For those looking for something larger and more luxurious, the Carnival Breeze has 54 suites, the largest being the Grand Penthouse Suites. The 270-square-foot LED TV screen on the main pool deck was a fun place to watch a movie at night as well. Movies like Godzilla, Rio 2, Divergent, and others were played during our cruise. This large area has hot tubs and extra seating that's away from the hustle and bustle of the main Lido pool area. In addition, this class of ship saw the introduction of the first ropes course at sea and the Sports Square. The Breeze is very similar to its sister-ships; Dream and Magic, although each ship may have some differences. The interactive Thrill Theater is a multi-dimensional movie watching experience. The 20 minute movies are in 3D and feature all kinds of special effects including seats that move around, water that sprays in your face and some other unexpected surprises.

You'll be lucky to get a seat at a $6 blackjack table in the smoky casino, which buzzes on sea nights. During the day, kids make a beeline for two scream-inducing water slides, mini-golf and an elevated ropes course. On Carnival Breeze, Deluxe Ocean View staterooms are a great choice for families who want to let the sun shine in as they sail. Rooms of this type feature great views, a full bathroom — plus a separate washroom — and while stateroom configurations vary, certain Deluxe Ocean View rooms have space to sleep up to five cruisers. The 719 interior staterooms are the smallest (and least expensive) on the ship, measuring 185 square feet.
Along with the piano bar and karaoke, there is always some singing going on aboard the ship, whether you want to sing along or just sit and listen. The pizza was thin but delicious but sometimes it took a lot more time to get the pizza I wanted. On one occasion I stood in line for almost 20 minutes while waiting for a pizza. It’s a great concept but it would be nice if Carnival took some steps to expedite or better organize the process of moving people through the line.

Some GS-OS suites have a single/double sofa bed for 3rd/4th person. All balcony accommodations feature a private balcony with sliding glass doors (table, patio chairs, rail with clear glass panel). Aft of the ship in the spa there is a place you can just relax and cool off whether that is before or after a massage or time in the thermal suite. The soothing music, fresh lemon water, and gorgeous ocean views in this space made it a great spot to just relax.

I rode the DrainPipe 4 times in a row on one day that was not very busy at the waterpark, so I guess I’m a big fan of WaterWorks. We got onboard about an hour from sailing time, and enjoyed the views of Miami and the docks. Lots of ships board from here and it’s a busy place, back and forth from the airport. Carnival Breeze has all the bells and whistles of a Carnival “Fun Ship” with several bars, lounges and restaurants. Built in 2012, you can also enjoy the SkyCourse, an exciting ropes course, and the Punchliner Comedy Club presented by George Lopez on the Carnival Breeze. It is advisable not to use a valid credit card (or driver’s license), but an old expired card (or some rewards card) instead. Oceanview cabins have a picture window and twin beds don’t convert to king when both upper beds are in use. Some have a sofa and/or upper beds (Pullman) for 3rd/4th person.

Sports fans appreciate the Casino Bar, with its multiple screens showing worldwide sporting events. Smoking in cabins/suites and on their balconies is prohibited. On Carnival Breeze, smoking allowed areas (cigarettes /incl electronic cigarettes) are Liquid Nightclub (disco /not allowed on the dance floor), Casino (designated areas), Casino Bar.
